Our Protect PDF tool uses AES-256 encryption—the highest security standard used by banks and governments. Just enter your desired password, and the file becomes unreadable to anyone without it.

An 'Open Password' completely locks the document so nobody can view it. An 'Owner Password' lets people view the document, but restricts them from printing, copying text, or editing the file.

No. AES-256 is military-grade encryption. Without the exact password, it would take supercomputers millions of years to brute-force the file open.

Unfortunately, no. Because the encryption is genuine and processed locally, we do not store your passwords. Please keep your password in a safe place.

Never. The cryptography is executed securely within your local browser environment. We cannot see your file, nor the password you type.

Encrypting a PDF adds a negligible amount of metadata (usually just a few kilobytes). It will not noticeably affect your file size.
